Popping Down to New York
Today is my last proper day of Spring Break. I spent the morning finishing my differential equations homework, which was not as difficult as I dreaded. During my lunch break I rushed back to my room in order to clean the fridge and grab my tomatoes and hummus, as well as return my library books. Last night I had a scare when one of my dormmates came into the suite late at night. It was dark and they didn't answer when I called out "hello?". I jumped out of bed, heart pounding, to see who it was. I knew none of my suitemates were due to be back. It turned out to be a friend of my suitemate who was for some indiscernable reason sleeping in her room tonight.
Then this morning when I went in to grab yogurt out of the fridge, I discovered another girl sleeping in my other suitemate's bed. This girl was completely unfamiliar and I was very confused. I hightailed it out of there and got to work.
My duffel bag is quite heavy, even though I don't have much in it besides my karate clothes, a few changes of clothes, my purse, and my notebook. It's probably the purse that's the heaviest, though. I'm quite excited to go to karate, even though I've forgotten all my kata and will probably regret it when I'm in class tomorrow. However I'll try my best and keep a smile on. I don't want to dread going to karate because I'm worried they'll judge me for not practicing. I shall just do my very best.
I also waffled around this morning when deciding whether to invite my Sensei out for a coffee. It feels a bit socially awkward, but he did tell me the times he was free, so I hope that means he wants to catch up. Ah well, he hasn't emailed me back yet, so I am still in suspense. I think it'd be a bit odd to have a coffee with him, because it feels like we are on very different social levels - he is an adult and I still feel kid-like. A byproduct of starting at karate when I was a freshman. I will always feel freshman like. But again, I'll make the most of it.
Tomorrow morning I intend on checking out Kinokuniya before going to karate at noon. The afternoon will be spent at the dojo, and then I'll head back to Barnard for a shower before going down to Soho with S to meet C. We'll hopefully get dinner at Ramen Takumi and check out the Strand Bookstore. Oddly enough I've never been there.
All that's left is to finish the next two hours of my work shift and get my butt on the train. I didn't bring a book, and I'm not sure how well I'll be able to write on my notebook since it'll be a moving body...but if that doesn't work out I have a few HI podcasts downloaded, and I can just sleep until I get to Penn station. I need the rest.
